Many in today's society are challenged to find ways to foster community, connection, and peace during a time of widespread conflict and division. Among those is Pete Kartsounes. After 27 years of touring as an award-winning singer-songwriter and acoustic musician, Kartsounes found himself amidst a significant rebirth and revelation. Kartsounes is best known for his inspirational song-writing, signature smoky voice, and astonishing flat-picking skills. Armed with an acoustic guitar, Kartsountes had traveled throughout his lifetime to spread the message of peace, hope, and love through song. From Bali to Berlin, Boulder to Bend, Kartsounes has made his life's work one of healing through the art of sound.

 In March of 2020, the world stopped and Kartsounes' career as a public performer came to a screeching halt. This end marked the start of a great new beginning. The time off from touring allowed Kartsounes to travel his most remarkable adventure ever: that of going inward to reveal a massive musical rebirth.  In December 2020, Kartsounes was given a Boss RC-505 loop sampler for Christmas. This seemingly simple gift became the launching point for an entirely new genre. Kartsounes' started merging his talents for musical composition, passion for the mind-body connection, and deep appreciation for world music. He began a series of endless experiments with the loop sampler, and the new artist moniker DJPK was born.

 Starkly different from Kartsounes' previous work, DJPK weaves modern electronic looped beats with a blend of eclectic world instruments. Songs combine cross-cultural sounds to create unique musical landscapes. Termed the "Beat-Chef of Rhythm and Sound", Kartsounes proves that integrating diversity in music isn't only possible, it's beautiful. Kartsounes claims, "I have always enjoyed making music that fosters connection. This time I saw a new opportunity to do that, one that inspires the celebration of diversity through movement and dance."
